Hi there!

Hi there!
I’ve revived an old blog with some changes that make it look pretty much like the one you’ve been seeing and will play around with it a little more. I’m hoping this works better than the last one was so this’ll be test run. Please let me know how it looks to you.

I’m sharing with you all of the pieces I’ve done in a class with Fiber Artist, Pamela Allen. http://www.pamelart.com/  I’m working on a final piece now.

Lesson 1 A
Lesson 1, using only black and white , create a composition, varying the tonal value so that a viewer is able to distinguish one element from another.
Janis' Still Life Finished
Lesson 1B , create a composition using a broad range of values within this narrow neutral palette
Lesson 2A, simultaneous Contrast Study 1
Lesson 2A. Create a collage that makes objects readable by adjusting the value in monochrome to create a contrast. We still have to contend with value, but we now have the added characteristics of saturation, pure hue and simultaneous contrasts that occur.
Lesson 2B in Simultaneous Contrast
Lesson 2B, Create collage using same colors, muted. I would like you to pay particular attention to how one color can appear to change depending on the color that is beside it.
Lesson 2C, create composition using only these muted colors
Lesson 2C. Choose a two color palette with as many permutations of the two colors as you can find .Now create a composition while experimenting with layering these colors upon each other to see what kind of contrasts you get.
Lesson 3 D, Create composition, using only 2 colors, play with contrasts that are possible by altering the size and placement of objects in a composition.

    1. Sad to say this is the last week and yes, I’ve done a bit more than one a week. They’re pretty small – from 12 inches to 18 inches There were 4 basic assignments but they were learned incrementally so one lesson may mean 2 or 3 small quilts. I’m still finishing the last one which has some handwork going on.

  1. Pam is offering this class again in January 2015 so I am going to take it…looking forward to it.
I hadn’t realized that we were taking the “about style” class together last April!! Or maybe my memory is really bad!! I just went back and checked your other posts about Pam Allen and recognized your pieces…I loved the boat piece especially!!
